An innovative biological product called the Clean and Green Roofing Solution has been developed by Johns Manville, a Berkshire Hathaway company and Green products LLC. Clean and Green roofing Solution is a white sealant derived from soya bean.
Chicago based U.S Equities Realty, a facility management company wanted a replacement for it’s worn out traditional black asphalt – covered rooftop. After much research they decided on the Clean and Green Roofing solution, an organic rooftop. This new roofing material is surprisingly non – toxic, flame resistant, water – proofed and has high reflectivity. The specialty is that it is able to lower the inside and the outside temperature of the building.
The cooler the temperature less would be the demand on the air conditioners. This in turn reduces the usage of electricity, and there by saving the resources.
Johns Manville’s JMCleanBond roofing system is also combined with Environmental Liquid membrane System (ELMS) of Green Products LLC to a single roofing system with the benefits of both the materials. John Manville’s JMCleanBond SBS fire resistant roofing membrane does not need any kind of heat or solvent based adhesives for installation, which makes it a non energy consuming substance.
Environmental Liquid membrane System (ELMS) is a USDA certified biological soy polymer membrane. It is completely water proof so it could be used in areas of buildings where there may be pooling of water.
The first roofing contractors association which was in Chicago dates back to 1870’s. The great Chicago fire in 1871 caused disastrous effect to people and their homes. After the fire, there were huge demand for re – constructing roofs for houses and other business enterprises and weren’t many genuine experts who could build roofs within short periods.
M.W Powell initiated other experts to join together and help re – build the roofs. M.W Powell and other experts pooled all the resources such as man power, equipment and materials and met the high demand of roofing for the people of Chicago. After this incident, the need and importance for strong and professional roofers was understood. This formed the building blocks of today’s Roofing contractors association all over the Unites States.
